  • The last of the 888 homologation specials, and also the rarest. The SP designation, meaning ”Sport Production”. During this time, World Superbike rules required every manufacturer to build a minimum of 500 road going “race replicas”, in order to qualify for participation in the World Superbike racing series. Ducati was always known to bend the rules, and build substantially less than the requirements. It is widely thought that less than 200 SP5’s were built. Unique for this model, was the bronze painted frame for the first time, as before the frames were white.
