This 240Z is a series 1 , having a serial in in the 800’s.
The first US cars had some unique features which would be changed in 1970, with later serial numbers.
One such item is the fiberglass center console, which would be changed to plastic for the later cars, soon after it was discovered the fiberglass was prone to cracking.
Delivered new with dealer installed air conditioning, and factory ordered AM/FM radio , including a power antenna.
While this may seem very basic by today’s standards, in 1970 these were two pretty luxurious things to have.
Resprayed in its original color of Desert Gold , sometime in the 1990’s, this Z is highly original and a rust free example.
It starts easily with its stock SU carburetors, and drives like a Z should. These cars are so uniquely Japanese.
When the Z was introduced to the US market in 1970, it was a sensation. Period magazine tests praised it for its powerful engine, smooth shifting gearbox, precise handling and excellent brakes.
Compared to British or Italian sports cars , it was more car for less money.
With an MSRP of $3,526 , the car was an absolute bargain, and dealers couldn’t keep them in their showrooms.
